The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation

Set up in 1990 by thoracic surgeon Professor Ray Donnelly, this is the only charity wholly dedicated to defeating lung cancer and provides the environment and support facilities to tackle this devastating disease.
The charity was originally called the Lung Cancer Fund, however the late entertainer Roy Castle gave his name to it and donated money from his Tour of Hope. This money helped to pay for the Roy Castle International Centre for Lung Cancer Research. Throughout his illness Roy Castle kept a positive attitude to his situation and devoted much of the last year of his life promoting the Foundation.
The Foundation has recently completed the world's first lung cancer research centre in Liverpool. Their ultimate aim and vision is to eradicate lung cancer through educating people and researching into treatments.
Moreover, the Foundation aims to inform the younger generation about the harmful effects of smoking and provide practical and emotional support for those affected by the disease.
